While staying in London, UK, I discovered a line of soft pastel that is manufactured in the northern region of England near the Scottish border.  The color seemed extracted directly from the sky and landscape, placed gently within the soft roll of a pastel stick.  My work returns these elements to their natural relationships.  I begin with an experience, abstract yet deeply internal.  Slowly the form finds its own way into an image.  It is revealed to me like an archived photograph slowly coming into focus.

Most of these pieces are composed of a series of several images, each one telling their common story from slightly different perspectives, each one unfolding an emotional dialogue with the land and sky, with wind, water, and light.
